Fullback Derrick Ross matched an Arena Football League record Saturday night in the season opener, but his heroics weren't enough to give the Soul a win over Arizona.

In a rematch of ArenaBowl XXVI teams, the defending-champion Rattlers topped the Soul, 62-55, in overtime in front of 7,088 fans at the US Airways Center in Phoenix.

Ross had given the Soul a 55-48 lead when he scored his sixth touchdown with 23 seconds remaining in regulation, tying the league's single-game record for TDS set by Nashville's Dan Alexander in 2007.

Arizona's Nick Davila threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to receiver Tysson Poots to tie the score with eight seconds remaining in regulation before the two connected on a 14-yard TD toss in OT, according to the Rattlers' website.
