Wide receiver Tyrone Goard, defensive lineman Justin Lawrence and offensive lineman Keith Newell played with the Pittsburgh Power last season.

The Soul also traded a claim order pick to the San Jose SaberCats in exchange for wide receiver/linebacker Dominique Curry.

"We definitely added high-quality players today," said Soul general manager Tom Goodhines.  "We feel that we have landed a solid group of players that will flourish under the guidance of our coaching staff and will have an immediate impact on our team.  We are excited to continue to add pieces and make a run at the championship."

Curry is a Philadelphia native, who competed in basketball, football and track at George Washington high school before playing football for California University (PA). Curry will be playing his second season in the AFL. He reeled in 50 catches for 588 yards and 25 touchdowns in his rookie year.

Entering his second season, Goard is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound wideout out of Eastern Kentucky. He recorded 29 receptions for 306 yards and 18 touchdowns in his rookie year.

Lawrence, a 6-foot-2, 305-pound nose guard from Morgan State, will be playing in his fourth season in the AFL this upcoming season. He played his first two seasons with the Milwaukee Mustangs and had 31.5 tackles to go along with three sacks and an interception. In his only year with the Power, he notched 17.5 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Newell is also entering his second season in the AFL. He appeared in 14 games, including 10 starts in his rookie year with the Power. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Newell went to Delaware State.
