Union to start season at home vs. New England Revolution on March 3

The Union's 2018 season will kick off at home, with a game Saturday, March 3, against the New England Revolution.

It will be the first time since 2015 that the Union play at home on the first day of the campaign, and just the third such occasion in the team's history. Kickoff time has not been set.

Major League Soccer announced all 23 teams' home openers Tuesday, including expansion club Los Angeles FC's. That team, managed by former U.S. national team head coach Bob Bradley, will play its first home game April 29 against the MLS Cup runner-up Seattle Sounders. Banc of California Stadium — a 22,000-seat venue next to the Los Angeles Coliseum — is under construction.

That will be one of two new stadiums opening in MLS this year. The other is D.C. United's home, Audi Field. It will be near Nationals Park. An opening date has not been confirmed for the venue, and United will have to play two "home" games at neutral venues outside of Washington. One will be against the Houston Dynamo on March 17. The other isn't known.

The Union won't be the opponent for any other team's home opener. The rest of their schedule and the league-wide calendar will be announced in January.
