David Beckham didn't make the trip and won't play for the Los Angeles Galaxy in Wednesday's game at PPL Park against the Union.

Coach Bruce Arena cited the need for rest. The Galaxy played Saturday to a 1-1 draw at home against the New York Red Bulls.

Los Angeles returns home on Saturday to host Sporting Kansas City.

"We have three games in a week and decided to rest David," Arena said.

When asked if the time off is injury related, Arena said, "Rest, fatigue, bumps and bruises you typically get. We have a game on Saturday and have to make some decisions on who is going to play three games, two games and that kind of thing, and we decided to rest him."
