Philadelphia Union general manager John Hackworth is solely focused on getting the team mentally, physically and tactically ready for the first game of the season March 2.

Before March 2, however, Hackworth has to meet the league deadline of roster cuts, which is March 1. Hackworth and the rest of the Union front office still have some maneuvering to do before that is all said and done.

Kerith Gabriel, the Union’s digital media manager, has more details in the team’s “Daily Doop” newsletter.

“Our league and the way you acquire players is very different from anywhere around the world,” Hackworth said. The most important thing for us is that we are improving and that we are prepared and that all of the things we have trained and worked on are actually better than when we started. “
