Judge in state soccer title game

Gavin Whalen came off the Father Judge bench in the second overtime period and scored the game-winning goal, giving the Crusaders a dramatic 2-1 victory over Unionville last night in the semifinals of the PIAA state Class AAA boys' soccer tournament at Harriton.

After Unionville (22-3) took a 1-0 lead in the third minute of the second half, Judge's Emmanuel Kollie knotted the score 7 minutes later, forcing overtime and setting the stage for Whalen, a junior who tapped in a loose ball at the side of the net.

Chris Schwartz made 10 saves in goal for Judge (22-2-1), which will face Central Dauphin for the state title at 7 p.m. on Saturday at HersheyPark Stadium.
