Union hosting Stoke City

One of England’s top Premier League teams to visit PPL Park tonight

THE UNION hosts one of England's top teams at 7:30 tonight in a friendly match at PPL Park.

Stoke City, which was promoted to Barclay's Premier League in 2008, is concluding a three-game tour in the United States. This is the fourth consecutive season the Union is playing an English team.

Stoke City is from Staffordshire and called the "Potters."

The Potters are 1-1 on the tour of the United States, losing 2-0 at Houston and winning 1-0 vs. Dallas. The Potters are from Stoke-on-Trent, England, and their record this season is 9-14-15, good for 13th place.

The Union is 1-2-0 against the Brits - all games 1-0 - defeating Everton and losing to Manchester United and Aston Villa. In MLS play this year, the Union is 9-6-7 and hosts the Chicago Fire at 8 p.m. Saturday.

The Potters bring top scorers Jonathan Walters, Peter Crouch and Kenwyne Jones to the match.
