Fighting for a playoff spot, the Union overwhelmed the host Seattle Sounders, 2-0, Saturday night on second-half goals from Freddy Adu and Brian Carroll.

The win at CenturyLink Field puts the Union in first place in the Eastern Conference and in the driver's seat for one of the 10 playoff spots. Adu scored in the 60th minute, and Carroll followed nine minutes later.

The Union were coming of a 1-1 tie at Chivas USA last weekend.

San Jose 2, New England 1. Chris Wondolowski scored his second goal of the game on a header in the 83d minute to power the Earthquakes over the Revolution in front of 9,111 fans at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

U.S. 1, Honduras 0. Midfielder Clint Dempsey scored in the 36th minute, and Tim Howard made several nice saves to help lift the U.S. men's team past Honduras at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

The win was the first in four games under new coach Jurgen Klinsmann. The team had scored once while going 0-2-1 in Klinsmann's first three games.

Offensively speaking, the U.S. team showed it was making strides in adapting to Klinsmann's system in this international friendly.
