The Union and cable giant Comcast are ironing out a deal to have Comcast SportsNet potentially air 18 of 34 league matches, a source told the Daily News.

In addition, CSN Philly will air a weekly soccer show, with the host to be announced.

As first reported by PhillySoccerpage.net, the show tentatively will be called "State of the Union," which was once the name of CSN's Union blog.

The Union, which would not comment officially on the matter, already has a long-term deal with 6ABC, but, according to the source, the collaboration with Comcast will eliminate coverage on 6ABC's digital cable channel, the LiveWell Network.

The source said "programming details and minor scheduling conflicts" are the only issues holding up announcements on both sides. CSN already is committed to airing the Phillies, Sixers and Flyers, all of which which play during the Union's 8-month season.

Most of the Union's matches are Saturday nights. PhillySoccerPage.net reported that the Union games would air on the Comcast Network if there is any conflict with the other teams.

Seven Union games will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and Fox Soccer Channel. ESPN2 will air games against New York (April 19 and Oct. 20) and D.C. United (Sept. 29). FSC will show matches against Portland (May 6), D.C. United (July 2), Colorado (July 29) and Kansas City (Sept. 23). Two additional matches, against Chicago (May 21) and New England (Aug. 28), will air on the Spanish-language network Galavision.
