The Independence traded goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc to the Chicago Red Stars for first- and third-round draft picks in the January draft. The picks are the third and 19th overall.

LeBlanc, 30, went 5-5-4 in her 14 starts, posting two shutouts and a 1.50 goals against average.

The Independence decided to keep fellow goalie Val Henderson and trade LeBlanc. Henderson also went 5-5, with two shutouts and a 1.50 GAA.

"Val [Henderson] and KK competed with each other all season and as much as I would like to do that again, I realize both players deserve the opportunity to be a full-time starter. Chicago offers that ability for KK to play more consistently," coach Paul Riley said.
