The Revolution sent former U.S. national team defender Chris Albright, 31, a graduate of Penn Charter, to the New York Red Bulls for two picks in yesterday's Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Then they selected Lehigh University defender Adam Welch, 21, with the 57th pick.

Welch, the Patriot League defensive player of the year, was one of four draftees from the region's colleges or high schools.

The Seattle Sounders selected Villanova forward/midfielder Mike Seamon, 21, with the 27th overall pick, on the second round. Seamon arrived at the Pennsylvania Convention Center yesterday not knowing what to expect.

"I only came to the draft because it was in Philadelphia - because I didn't know if I was going to get drafted," said Seamon, who had five goals and seven assists as a senior.

"It's really nice getting picked here, because I was able to share with my family and friends," Seamon said.

Chivas USA selected Maryland defender Kevin Tangney, 22, who played at Council Rock North High, with the No. 35 pick, in the third round. Tangney scored three goals and started all 23 games for the Terrapins last season.

Penn State forward Jason Yeisley went at No. 38 to FC Dallas. Yeisley was the Big Ten offensive player of the year as a senior last fall, with eight goals and five assists in 22 games.
