You know it's a strange weekend when the Kixx score more than the Eagles.

The Kixx, opening their season for the final time in the Wachovia Spectrum, defeated the Massachusetts Twisters, 34-11, on Saturday night.

The 34-point output was a new franchise record for the Kixx, who are in their first season in the new National Indoor Soccer League. Previously, they played in the the now-defunct Major Indoor Soccer League.

Anthony Maher, Pat Morris, and Hewertoneach recorded hat tricks for the Kixx .

Goals in the NISL are worth from one to three points, depending on distance.

The Twisters' Neil Krause scored the first goal in the history of the NISL just over a minute into the contest on a feed from Paulo Lima.

The teams were tied at 6-all after the first quarter, but the Kixx outscored the Twisters (0-1), 11-0 in the second and 13-0 in the third to put the game out of reach.

The Kixx improved to 9-4 in home openers.

Goalie Peter Pappas stopped four of seven shots, while Nick Hovaker II stopped four of six in relief.

The Kixx don't play again until Dec. 6 when they take on the Twisters in West Springfield, Mass. Their next home game is Dec. 13 against La RaZa de Monterrey.
