Posted on Tue, Aug 30, 2011
The Wells Fargo Center will celebrate its 15th anniversary today. It was Aug. 31, 1996, when the United States defeated Canada, 5-3, in a World Cup of Hockey game. Flyers forward John LeClair, of Team USA, scored the building’s first goal.

Here are the 15 top events in the building, which has had four names (CoreStates Center, First Union Center, Wachovia Center and Wells Fargo Center). Before it was built, it was commonly called Spectrum II.
