Markelle Fultz mocked for Instagram post, likes cheesesteaks from unexpected spot

To say it was a busy night for Markelle Fultz is an understatement.

After being selected by the 76ers with the first pick in Thursday night's NBA draft, the Washington point guard got a taste of what life is like in the spotlight after being mercilessly mocked for sharing an Instagram ad promoting Swiss luxury watch company Tissot.

The sponsorship itself wasn't the problem (although the photo featuring Fultz sporting two watches was funny), but whoever shared the image didn't update the template that had Fultz saying he was "excited to head to (City) to join (team name)."

The post was quickly deleted, with Fultz telling ESPN he didn't upload the post since he had his phone turned off all day. Unfortunately, the internet never forgets.

Later, in a brief interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Fultz was asked the question he's going to hear a lot in the next month now that he's officially a son of Philadelphia — Pat's or Geno's?

Surprisingly, Fultz said neither.

"I actually haven't been to either one yet," he told Kimmel. "I've been going to Larry's, and had their chef cook me one."

It's unclear how the steak spot ended up on Fultz's radar. There are two Larry's locations — one on Girard Avenue and one on 54th Street by St. Joseph's University. Not surprisingly, Larry's is popular among students for its five-pound "belly filler" sandwiches.

Maybe he heard about it from Kobe Bryant, who has been an outspoken fan of Larry's cheesesteaks ever since moving to Lower Merion as a youngster.

"Every time I come here, there are fresh pretzels sitting on top of my locker," Bryant told reporters in 2015 before his final game in Philadelphia. "And I'd always have my Larry's cheesesteaks waiting for me after the game."

Unfortunately, Larry's has had a hard time over the years spelling its most popular fan's name right.

Owners at Larry's weren't around Friday morning to comment about Fultz's nationally televised shout-out.

Speaking of food, Twitter went crazy last week when Fultz was spotted walking into the Sixers' training facility with food from Chick-fil-A. In a post on the Players' Tribune, Fultz jokingly suggested the abundance of Chick-fil-A locations in and around Philadelphia was one of the many reasons he wanted the Sixers to draft him:

I was just waking up. So I was like, "O.K., cool. Do they have Chick-fil-A there?"

A crispy chicken sandwich for breakfast. It's kind of like my good luck charm. Keith never got back to me about that important question. So I found out for myself. I Googled it immediately.

Philly does have Chick-fil-A. It has six, actually.

Seven if you count the one at the airport. Boston has zero Chick-fil-As, for what it's worth.
