The 76ers are giving Brandon Austin an opportunity to turn his focus back to playing basketball.

The former Imhotep Charter standout will  play for the Sixers team that will compete in the Utah Jazz Summer League  July 3 to 6 in Salt Lake City and the NBA Summer League July 7 to 17 in Las Vegas. The team's training camp is scheduled to begin Wednesday.

The 6-foot-7 point guard, who has been working out with the Sixers, is still trying to clean up his image. Austin has denied two separate sexual assault accusations, and he was not charged with a crime in either case. But the standout has dealt with the perception that goes with being dismissed from Providence College and Oregon amid the allegations of sexual misconduct.

This summer, Austin has been impressive in five-on-five scrimmages with the Sixers. He first made an impression on the franchise last year while participating in a predraft workout.

Sources have said that Austin has been working hard to clean up his image. If he plays well, this could be a step toward latching onto a G-League team for the coming season.
