Sixers' Joel Embiid and Justin Anderson soak up Super Bowl experience

While the city of Philadelphia revels in the magic of being home of the Super Bowl champion Eagles, the Sixers are celebrating, too.

Joel Embiid and Justin Anderson were in Minneapolis, enjoying the festivities in person. They shared their jubilance on twitter after the game.

Embiid and Anderson's chartered flight didn't arrive back in Philadelphia until 3:00 a.m. Monday. Embiid said that being at U.S. Bank Stadium and watching the Eagles win was an amazing experience, but that he wished he could have also celebrated in Philly.

"It was insane and I wish was in town," Embiid said of the fans' celebrations after the game. "I would have been jumping over cars and doing the same things they were doing. I saw the videos and it was amazing. It just shows you the passion that the fans in this city have."

Anderson shared a photo of himself as a child in a Terrell Owens Eagles jersey on Twitter after the Eagles won with the caption, "Mood."

Though Anderson was a huge Owens fan back in the day, his personal ties to the current Eagles roster made the day even more special. Anderson, who is close friends with the Eagles' Torrey Smith, Rodney McLeod, and Chris Long, said the experience was overwhelming and proves that the biggest moments can happen for anyone.

"Those guys are all pieces of a puzzle," Anderson said. "Sometimes it's hard to kind of see where you want to be when you're not the face of the team or star of the team, but those guys came in collectively and executed and played really well. So, how that translates to us is everybody's got to do their job and you have to continue to work on your craft."

It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Especially as NBA players, it's hard to get to Super Bowls.

Though Embiid and Anderson were the only Sixers at the Super Bowl, they definitely weren't the only ones that were enjoying the night.

Sixers coach Brett Brown, who watched the game at home, said the game and celebration afterward made him think of what the Wells Fargo Center could be like if the Sixers make the playoffs.

"I watched it in my living room and played text tag with lots of the team as it was unfolding," Brown said. "You're just reminded of the fan base. When the game ended, you can hear all over … the fireworks, the sirens, the screams, you just feel the city."

Robert Covington shared videos on Snapchat of him celebrating in an Eagles jersey. Markelle Fultz, Trevor Booker, Richaun Holmes, and Furkan Korkmaz all congratulated the Eagles via Twitter.

Videos also circulated of Lower Merion's Kobe Bryant celebrating and of Philadelphia native Dion Waiters, who plays with the Miami Heat, sobbing after the Eagles won their first Super Bowl. And there was video of South Carolina women's head coach and North Philly native Dawn Staley running through the hallway of a hotel wearing her "No. 5 Staley" Eagles jersey.

The Sixers, who host the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, have some Eagles-related surprises in store for fans who attend the game and are currently working on making it a night that continues the celebration.
