If the Sixers have a shot at Deron Williams or Dwight Howard (they don't)then amnesty Brand. If not keep brand and either work a trade for his expiring contract during the season or use his money in the 1023 free agent market. If you amnesty Brand now with no big time free agent coming in, the agents of mid level guys like Lou, Hawes will cannibalize Brand's money.

These guys go off into never, never land talking hoops...If ownership will do it, tag EB and go after Ilyasova hard. Draft Royce White...he's a man,Bob.

Rather than amnesty and still having to pay Brand his $18 million contract....maybe Sixers should just restructure and keep Brand as a bench player for this final year.. and pay him $6 million per year over the next three years with interest.

@bears...couldn't agree more about Ilyasova(which means we'd use the amnesty on Brand)...if they get him and draft Ross and perhaps swing a trade for Iggy where we get perhaps an expiring contract and later 1st round pick we get White too...dream scenario plus we'd resign Lou. Things would be looking very bright

It would be much better to work out some kind of trade. The problem is, trade for who?. Brand showed all season that he's got nothing left in the tank. Not even fumes. no wheels no engine left. So amnesty seems the only option. 18 mil for a player who should come off the Bench. gotta love those Agents. anyway, they're stuck with his contract and he's untradable, unless we can get someone who's equally worthless. free up the cash and amnesty this guy

Sixers are notorious for picking up stars after they already peaked..they paid him waay too much.....besides I'd never pick up a Duke player....that school is a factory for terry cloth NBA players....all hype in school and once in a decade produce a legitimate star i.e Grant and Irving

if he's getting $18 million next year regardless of what the sixers do to his current contract, why would he accept $18 million of next 3 years? Anyway it was nice of you to take the $80 million and bring nothing to the sixers for the last 5 years EB, When we could've used that salary cap space on some one better (IE: Carlos Boozer)

All the Bench players should go except Thad young. Lou williams, Battie, Meeks, Sam young. all of them along with Hawes, Iggy, Brand. if the sixers are to go to the next level these are not the guys to bring that about. and if they can package a deal involving Iggy and who ever else to move up in the draft to get someone like Drummond, go for it

Mtairy....be careful what you wish for ....just because next years FA pool is stronger doesn't mean the top tier guys want to play here....philly is not considered a "top 10 places to play" in the NBA....also some of those FA's could resign during next season and not be available also their own teams can "outbid you" if its a MAX type player....

I say strike while the iron is hot!!! Coming off the playoff run....having three of the first 50 picks in this years draft....having a trade chip like Iggy or Turner or Thad along with the potential of having up to 25 million available if you amnesty Brand is just what the doctor ordered.....

Bear.....Is right...and its actually not as difficult as it sounds....

    Amnesty Brand (18.1 mil)

Free Agents....hard after either....Ilyasova or Humphries (5/55) which it makes you instantly younger and better than last year!

Thad Young to Houston for Courtney Lee SG replaces LW and is bigger and does more

Iggy for Gasol as money can work from EB amnesty

    G Holiday
    G Lee
    SF Turner
    PF Ilyasova
    C Gasol

    Bench

    Lavoy Allen
    Vucevic
    1st rd pick Royce White
    Meeks
    Sam Young
    (2) 2nd round picks
Sign one more FA as you will have around 6 or 7 million left over possibly bring back Hawes???

I would like for Brand to opt out for an Extension. He can still be productive, what he can't be is an athlete. An extension of 12, 7.5, 4.5, 2.0. I have grown to appreciate what he brings to the game and to the group. He helped us start it keep him around so he can hopefully finish the deal. Opt out for the extension brand. Thad at 245? NO! NO! NO! What are you trying to do? Thad does need that much wt. I would like to see him improve his range and ball handling. It's mental with Thad on offense. The "when to do what thing". But it's simple. V a bigger, STRONGER, SLOWER man Thad you want to pick and pop (stretch 4) the goal? Establish the j get the big man to RESPECT your j. Once he steps out. HE'S YOURS! Up fake drive FOR THE DUNK!!! V a smaller WEAKER FASTER guy use your post game in utilizing your HOOK Debo ALL small forwards. Stretch EVERY power forward. 230lbs. That's good enough for Thad. Squating about 500lbs. Power Clean 300. But back to brand after battie retires we will need an end of the bench veteran big. Ummmm. That's Elton brand. Opt out brand.!! Trade up into the lottery. Not a fan of the gasol deal. No thank you. I can wait to see it all play out. But it starts with getting the guy that MANAGEMENT wants in the draft without trading a major piece. (jrue, iguodala,Thad) those 3 are major TO ME! Get the player and add him to that group. I still say its perry jones or Drummond. During free agency, Can we negotiate an extension for an opt out with brand? Yes? We can resign Lou. I would offer spencer the full mid level exception. And give him another attempt at that big contract. Sign the shooter. I want either the#1 or #2 seed next season. And to do that we gotta hold off the Knicks.
