Sixers sign Moultrie and Harkless

The Sixers signed rookies Maurice Harkless and Arnett Moultrie on Tuesday.

Harkless was the 15th overall pick in last month's NBA draft. The Sixers acquired Moultrie, drafted with the 27th pick overall pick by Miami, by trading the draft rights to Justin Hamilton (45th pick overall) and a protected future first round pick.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed. However, Harkless will make $1.73 million as a rookie. Moultrie will earn $1.04 million.

Harkless (6-8, 208), who left St. John's following a rookie season that saw him average 15.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and shoot better than 45 percent from the field, was named Big East Rookie of the Year last season.  Harkless ranked sixth in the nation in scoring among freshman and second in rebounding.

Moultrie (6-11, 249) left Mississippi following a junior season in which he averaged 16.4 points, 10.5 rebounds while shooting almost 55 percent from the field. Moultrie, Moultrie, named First Team All-SEC last season, led the conference in rebounding and ranked 10th overall in the nation.
