Sixers mock draft roundup
Sheil Kapadia
With the NBA draft just nine days away, here's a roundup of mock drafts, along with projections for the Sixers at No. 15.
ESPN.com's Chad Ford has the Sixers taking Kentucky power forward Terrence Jones:
The Sixers might have a tough choice here between Jones, Sullinger and Arnett Moultrie. They need size, but also shooting. Jones may be the compromise. He measured out very well for a power forward at the combine, has an NBA body and proved to be a solid rebounder and shot-blocker in college. He has tremendous upside if he puts his heart into it.
SI.com's Sam Amick has the Sixers selecting Duke shooting guard Austin Rivers:
The Sixers are well-equipped in their backcourt with young Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner, but Rivers could fit in nicely with his ability to create his own shot and play both positions. The bigger [Terrence] Ross is the better shooter and athlete of the two, but he doesn't have Rivers' versatility.
Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com also has them taking Rivers:
Doug Collins and the Sixers need scoring desperately. Doc's kid does just that.
Sean Deveney of The Sporting News thinks the Sixers will end up with UConn guard Jeremy Lamb:
The Sixers could look to move up, they could deal Andre Iguodala, they could deal out of the draft altogether. But they need shooters, and Lamb can shoot.
Draft Express has the Sixers going with Baylor power forward Perry Jones.
Hoops Hype projects Mississippi State power forward Arnett Moultrie to the Sixers:
One of the most athletic bigs in the country, Moultrie is a force on the glass and scores in a variety of ways. He can even step out and bury college three pointers. With great length and agility, Moultrie is an intriguing option for teams looking for size and athleticism. The two big complaints about him are his attitude and lack of strength. His intensity level is not always great, particularly on the defensive end. He also seems to be under 230 pounds, but appears to have the frame to add weight once he gets with NBA trainers. Moultrie is getting looks in the late lottery to mid first round.
Steve Alexander of Rotoworld.com has the Sixers taking North Carolina power forward John Henson:
Elton Brand is getting older and the Sixers could use a defensive banger to replace him. Henson should be just that. If they don’t go with Henson here, Terrence Jones would be another solid option.
Matt Moore of CBSSports.com projects Henson's teammate, Tyler Zeller, to the Sixers:
Doug Collins will love this guy, and he's a significant upgrade over Spencer Hawes, saving them the money on re-signing him.
Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com has them going with Ohio State power forward Jared Sullinger:
Sullinger drops, but maybe to an ideal place. The 76ers can use a power player, and the experienced Sullinger will be an interior presence.
Trade Iggy for the #7 or #8. Draft Terrance Ross. Draft Terrance Jones at #15. Now you have two potential star players in one fell swoop and a realistic hope for the future. PG Holiday, SG/SF Ross, SG/SF Turner, PF Jones, C Vucevic. Stay away from Sullinger, Zeller, Lamb, and Rivers. Take Arnett Moultrie if Terrance Jones is not there ate #15. Al3000
Terrence Ross? Mannnnn, trade Iggy and draft Drummond Ace-Philadelphia
I'm good with that. But it all boils down to being able to trade Iggy for the #7 or #8. Not sure that's gonna happen. World2
I have been saying for a while now that we need to walk away from this draft with both Ross and Moultrie/Jones johnGiam- @AI3000, I like your scenario although we'd be one of the youngest teams so we'd have to surround these guys with proven vets (see OKC Perkins, Sefalosha, Fisher, Collison & Muhammed). The waek link is Vucevic, I don't think he's ready for primetime.
@Ace, In AI3000 we're only trading up to 7 or 8. Most experts believe Drummond will be gone by then. mtairy1
Good to see there's a consensus on who the pick will be. dasher
Terrence Ross is the pick if still there. stayoutofphilly
If Vontaze Burfict is still available...pick him. Astro Jones
Mock Drafts should be stocked next to the Charmin...As it stands now, there are rumors involving the #2,5,6,7,8, and 11th picks being available for trade...so Draft Night should be interesting....Again, the Sixers have been laissez faire in the evaluation process,to the degree that out of 26 guys who have come in to workout, only 3 (Terrence Ross,Moe Harkless,Doron Lamb) are regarded as legitimate 1rst round options...The draft stock of a few players have truly fallen (Jeremy Lamb-interview process,Jared Sullinger-medical tests from Combine most disconcerting)...Rumors that the Sixers want to trade the pick for an established veteran also should not be discounted...My ideal Thurday (of next week) would be Terrence Ross at #15, with a draft night trade made somehow to procure Royce White, the versatile bullvon from ISU. bearsfriend
Although this Draft is regarded as being somewhat deep with prospects that can become decent contributors in the second half of the First Round, the early lottery teams (after New Orleans at #`1) seem lost...Similar to 2010, there are 5 different guys (Drummond,MKG,Harrison Barnes,Bradley Beal,Thomas Robinson) that the Bobcats are considering at #2, a pick they're willing to take offers for...If the Sixers did try to pull a trigger (personally, I'd rather they trade down) and get #2...Bradley Beal would be the guy...IMO. bearsfriend
Sixers need to draft a shooter. Not Waiters or Rivers - their percentages stink. Either of the Lambs, Doron or jeremy have much better shooting percentages. Only one will be left - take him! bwilderd- Of the shooters (after Beal), Ross makes the most sense for the Sixers, as he's athletic on the break, moves great without the ball, and is a true 2 way player...I was a huge Jeremy Lamb fan until I heard the guy talk(he make JaVale McGee look like a Phi Beta Kappa)...NO THANK YOU...Doron Lamb is an interesting name, overlooked on a crowded talent pool as KU, yet the "go to" guy..Fantastic shooter, good athlete, and valuable as a true combo guard as he can give you minutes at PG, which could be an issue...Along with John Jenkins (who they did not bring in), a nice option should they trade down into the 23-30 range, after getting a big first.
bearsfriend - What about his intvw was so bad it turned you off from what you saw on the court? I think Lamb would be a great fit if we moved into the top 10. Fantastic shooter and scorer, athletic, huge wingspan (7'), good defender, and clutch (was superb in the '11 tourney). If we actually moved into the lower half of the top 10 I think he would be BPA assuming other good options wld be gone.
boy_wonder
Agree with Bearsfriend; if the Sixers can secure the #2 pick, go for Beal. The Sixers need immediate help, not Drummond who is well down the road. However, given the Sixers somewhat passive attitude thus far, I would not be surprised if they trade the pick for a veteran who can come in and play now. chuckw- Rumor of the day has Iggy going to New Orleans, for the #10 pick, and chain smoking Mehmet Okur (whom I thought was entoombed a few years ago).
bearsfriend - Wow...if that happened, the Sixers could potentially get sg-Terrence Ross out of UW with the 10th pick, and at the 15th pick, they could get sf/pf-Royce White out of ISU. And, in the 2nd round, they could pick pg-Scott Machado out of Iona. Then in free agency, they could amnesty Brand and possibly sign sf/pf- Ersan Ilyasova. And, by letting Hawes and Meeks go, they could also be able to sign sg- Courtney Lee. Potential lineup: Holiday/Machado, Lee/Ross, Turner/Young, Ilyasova/White, and Vucevic/Allen. Good luck Thorn/DC/Aron/Harris!

Sixers have no chance of winning a championship in the next 50 years, bottom line.No one wants to come to Philly and play ball. knicknasty
Guys, I'm just going to pull up a chair here, sit back and have a cold one and listen in to this hot stove talk!
The weather outside is going to be too hot to move around, and there's nothing but bad news going on elsewhere in the Philly sporting world! It's a lot cooler and comfortable in here! DelawareRiverRat- The editors at Philly.com were smart to finally put out a "Sheil Kapadia type" thread out, as the past few days have been rehashing Lou Will's situation and snippets about the national scene...Philly wants to talk about PHILLY....
bearsfriend
I would take Stevie Wonder,Ronnie Milsap and Ray Charles over Iggy.Iggy is not a boost to the team;he is a hindrance. knicknasty
@bearsfriend, this sounds crazy but the Sixers are safer piking 8-15 then they are picking 2-5. This is one of those drafts where mistakes will be made and jewels found. That's why teams are looking to trade down.
NO has been shopping that pick becuase they have a sure thing at #1 and will likely get Gordon to re-sign. They'd like someone who could fit with that duo (ET?). They're also looking to dump salary...Okefor or Ariza.
Funny how J. Lamb and Sullinger are falling like rocks. They found bulging disc in Sullinger's back and teams are having Greg Oden flashbacks. It looks like Sullinger will be available when we pick. Please tell you Sixer buddies not to choose him. mtairy1- If they draft him (over Royce White), I move to New Hampshire and join Gopherkidd....Rumors have Moultrie, who fits many Sixers' needs(physically, but not mentally),involved with thte Pistons at 9...It seems like more and more, the agents are taking over this process...With Leonard skyrocketing, I see both Henson and Zeller falling close to the Sixers range...I would expect DC to get a veteran big, so I'm still hoping for Ross....Expect the Bulls and Nets to do something big Draft Night....
bearsfriend - LOL, Sullinger would cause you to move to a place with no cable, no indoor plumbing and restaurants that serve muskrat?
Article & post workout video interview of Terrence Ross. Interesting he mentioned playing with Iggy, Holiday and Hawes when 1 0r 2 of them may not be here.
http://www.nba.com/sixers/features/120619-terrence-ross-closer-look.html mtairy1- He's friends with Hawes, and worked out with him during the lockout...He came off VERY impressive, knowing the Sixers' needs prior to meeting with the team...Whether he was prepped for it or not, that's what a job interview should be like, as well as draining dagger after dagger from the arc.
bearsfriend - Ross knows Hawes who's a Wasghington alum and he knows Holiday because he played with Holiday's brother Justin at Washington. when Ross was a freshman he played behind Justin Holiday who was a senior.
I would prefer to trade the 15th pick probably in some kind of package and bring in help that can improve our top 7 rotation NOW. I'm tired of waiting for young players to develop!!! bbrady25
mtairy1: thought you were on your way to the Phillies game? Don't worry, the fans are much nicer at the park then online. From my perspective, the bottom line is shooting, immediate not down the road help; I tried to be upbeat about the Sixers during the playoffs, but you could find better shooters at Tustin playground. Draft Rose in the first round and bigs in the second round, trade for a veteran big and sign a free agent veteran point guard for off the bench. GET A SHOOTER, someone who can put what we call a basketball in what we call a basket from more than 20 feet with some consistency. chuckw
Bear: not sure we need Rhodes Scholars; if they can ball, I don't care if they ever speak. chuckw- If the guy has length and talent like JaVale McGee, then I'd take a chance...but any other position, no way...It's just not about speaking. It's about who will be a professional, and do the things one needs to be a really good professional...I'm looking at the way I think DC would do so..Does he seem like a guy that enjoys the baggage?..

Vuke getting benched for the playoffs makes it tough. He was Doug's pick, but he's also a rookie. Love to see a deal, but if we stay at 15 it's hard to argue against the best shooter or forward on the board. If nobody special drops, I'd go with Ross. rzzzzz
@chuckw, tickets for Thursday's game vs Rockies.
I'm with you on the Sixers, draft a shooter who can slide into the rotation immediately not a big who will go the Vuc/Lavoy route. Get a vet big thru trade or FA, sign a low money vet combo guard who can also shoot. The playoff run was good because it gave the guys experience in close, grind it out games. The playoff run was bad because coaches and players around the league watched and saw how to guard us. We could be in for a loooong, ugly season if we don't get a couple of floor stretchers. mtairy1
I watch a ton of college basketball. First, this is not a draft to trade up in, because there's really only 1 star player and he'll be gone after the first pick.
Austin Rivers needs the ball in his hands to be effective, much like Iggy, ET, and Jrue, so he doesn't fit here. Perry Jones is a project and Arnett Moultrie is way over-rated--I don't think either are worthy of our pick. John Henson is too skinny and Tyler Zeller can run the floor, but gets pushed around underneath and can't shoot well enough. They could trade down and get Doron Lamb who will likely be just as good as Jeremy Lamb but taken much later in the 1st round.
Of the guys mentioned, I'd only take Terrence Jones or Jared Sullinger at #15. BJG83- caught: I thought the exact same thing. A resounding no to Sullinger.
chuckw
BJG83: I hear you, but what is your objection to Ross (who I keep calling Rose for some reason)? Also if they draft Sullinger, we lose Bearsfriend who will be exiling himself to New Hampshire. chuckw
if i was the sixers i would take the hornets deal and run. give up iggy, get the 10th pick and omeka Okafors contract in return. with the 10th pick you draft Ross, who believe me will be A PLAYER in this league for many years, and at 15th you go with Terrance Jones or Moultrie..
amnesty Brand and sign Ersan Illyasova, and maybe gerald wallace to replace iggys D....you take Nociones 6 mil a year, and with that you sign Delonte west, Mickal Pietrus, and lavoy allen!
let go of: hawes, Lou, Brand, Nocione, Meeks, trade iggy: leaves us with a roster of:
starters:
Jrue
Evan TUrner
Gerald wallace
Ersan Illyasova
Omeka Okafor
Bench:
Delonte west
Thad YOUng
Terrance ross
Terrance Jones
Mickal Pietrus
Vucevic
Lavoy allen johnGiam- Nice balance of youth (Holiday, Turner, Ross, Jones, Vucevic and Allen) and vets but as chuckw says further down, this is a massive roster turnover.
- This team can win 45 games max and will be a sixth seed after Miami,Chicago,Indiana, new York,Atlanta,Orlando . Ok, Chicago if rose comes back, but still not really better than what we had already?
bgwille
From Chad Ford's chat today, he says there is talk with the Hornets for their 10th pick and Turner. He also mentions if they trade Iggy to get into the top 10, they may pick Waiters and move ET to the 3. If the Sixers can keep their pick get Waiters with the acquired pick and a PF White/Henson/Moultrie/P.Jones/T.Jones/Sullinger, it would be an ideal scenario. Yet talk is that Jones is dropping since he considers himself a 3 and not a 4. As a 3 in the drills, he didn't fair well in shooting. Can't wait til draft day. Manok
@johnGiam, I like how you think. The biggest thing you did that most posters don't get is you put the rookies on the bench. All the scenarios with Drummond, Zeller, Ross etc as starters are crazy. DC will not begin the year with rookies in the starting lineup.
I also like that even though you deleted Lou you are still providing bench scoring.
Also even though Iggy is out you kept defensive intensity with the additions of Wallace, Okefor & West
Lastly by adding Ilysova, Wallace, West, Ross, Jones & Pietrus you added players who can put the ball in the net.
Not sure if this is going to happen but it's a well thought out scenario that strengthens our weakness while not having a detrimental affect on our strength.
You could probably make these moves w/out amnestying Brand. Iggy makes $1.5M more then Okefor, use that along with Meeks, Battie & Brackin's $3.6M to sign Wallace. Use Hawes's 4M, Lou's $6M & S. Young's $1M to sign Ersan. And as you said use Nocioni's $6.6M to sign West, Pietrus and Lavoy. mtairy1
I think we are all in for a surprise draft night. BigVilFromWestPhil
mtairy1: while I understand your view that Johngiam has provided some thought to the process, you are looking at SEVEN new players, including THREE new starters. Do you really believe that Collins wants that much turnover of the roster? The Sixers could not shoot, as we all agree, but they played sound defense all season. To restructure the roster to that extent seems unlikely. As for not starting a rookie, DC would rather not, but that depends on the rookie and the need; keep in mind that Vucevic and Allen started 15 games each last season and bigs are less likely to start that a quality shooting guard. Admittedly, he would probably prefer a veteran shooting guard right now. One thing that has struck me after the season is the dislike so many Sixer fans have toward the roster to such an extent that they want virtually a completely new team. I just am not convinced that Collins wants so much change. chuckw
Jones is a nice player except we have a player similar to that in Thad Young. This would be the whole Evan Turner-Andre Iguodala thing again. We need shooting (Terrence Ross) and a big low post bruiser (Myers Leonard). If we trade Andre for a pick then we'll be getting both players we need through the draft. If Andre gets moved for a vet, it will probably be a big, because no team is going to be trading away a 20ppg player for Andre unless that team has a gluttony of scorers which no team has lifeoflata
Potential stars only. You're going to need three freaks to get past Miami or OKC. "Solid" picks won't get it done. person
If perry jones drops to #10 turner goes to new Orleans. Re structure brand Sign Lou with brands difference. From 18 mil to 10.5 mil. And still have the 17 mil that was available before the brand deal. Except now Lou has been re signed with 17 mil to spend as opposed to signing Lou and only having 10. Leaving the #10 to sign (4 mil) and a free agent floor spacer to sign (jr) with 13 mil remaining. I would offer jr 8.5-9 mil. Jrue, jr, iguodala, brand, hawes (1 yr mle) Lou, ariza, Thad, perry, lavoy, Nik, battie (1 year) Invite Hollis Thompson and don't kill me Rodney carney to camp. combocancer1975
Are we ever going to bring in players we might draft for a workout ? It's been a bunch of guys who won't get drafted 7mel11
Rivers is a scorer but not a shooter; this team needs shooters at guard.
Sullinger will be a marginal NBA player.
The pick is Zeller JBinPA
first things first..sixers need to resign Lavoy Allen..then when that happens, worry about draft. teenwolf
7mel11:I've been on that bandwagon for a few weeks now...I do now John Henson will be in later this week (hoopshype, and it'll be his 11th stop), and I'm sure a few more, but they certainly have been late in the process...Noted earlier, just 3 of the 26 guys they've met with here are projected first rounders...Secretive as well, texting the reporters just one day in advance of future workouts...Not endearing,IMO. bearsfriend
Makes you wonder if something is up - like trading the pick 7mel11
What we need is a GM with a plan? Lets hire whoever is the assistant GM for the thunder and let him work. I have seen nothing to make me believe that this team is getting better or will be better bgwille
I still get the sense that some posters think this is the Mississippi with riverboat gamblers in every front office, including the Sixers who will wheel and deal, adding virtually an entire new team. This is the NBA, the generally conservative NBA where teams look to add a top draft pick and/or a top free agent to turn their teams around. Collins and ownership might surprise everyone by trying to re-sign Hawes and LouWill, signing Lavoy Allen, keeping Meeks, trading Iguodala or Turner and the first round draft pick, and adding two second round draft picks, one of whom makes the team, perhaps ending with a roster of three or four new faces, one of whom will be a consistent shooting guard and perhaps another who will be a veteran, hard-nosed big and a third who will be a veteran point guard off the bench. chuckw
Terrance Jones may be too similar to a player we already have in T. Young. Royce White needs the ball in his hands to be effective and is a below average shooter, so he's not a good fit at this point. Every big man in this draft will be torn to shreds by Phily fans because each has issues and will take a while to develop IF they ever do.
That narrows my wish list to Jeremy Lamb, Terrance Ross, Austin Rivers. Henson (shot blocking) and Sullinger (bulk, scoring) would be good pieces for the 2nd unit and safe picks compared to the Jones boys-- if the Sixers decide to go big. DeanoP44
I still believe Iggy (and another player for cap purposes) gets traded to LA for Gasol. As long as Brand's contract is wiped off the books. In terms of the draft, they can't target anyone at pick 15. But they need a shooting guard, now that Lou is gone. beegal99
Agree, the lack of bigs working out for the Sixers is curious. I wouldn't be suprised if a deal is already in the works for a proven NBA big. I'd do Gasol for Iggy & Vuc. I'd also do ET & 15 for 10 & Okefor (or Ariza). Even though the draft comes first I believe the trades will dictate who we draft and who we go after in FA. They're already working on something and are keeping it close to the vest. mtairy1
If the Sixers can trade Iggy and get a scorer (who preferably is also a good shooter) and a shot blocker, I would be very happy. Something like a Ross, Henson combo. blah
mtairy:I believe the first scenerio you laid out is the ticket, and also why long, athletic wings (Ross,Harkless) has been their appetite to date....I do believe Memphis is also in the market for Pau. bearsfriend
mtairy1: I don't see them trading BOTH Iguodala and Turner. I do think they will move one or the other with a pick or picks for a veteran big and will try to get Ross in the draft. The key for me is whether they will amnesty Brand or keep him as a expiring contract. If they do not amnesty him (which I think more likely) then not much change other than a shooting guard and a big and possibly a veteran point guard off the bench, as I noted before. chuckw
If, somehow, they fail to add a true, consistent shooting guard, who does not depend on slashing or overdribbling but can catch and shoot from distance, then I will be joining Bearsfriend in New Hampshire. I cannot bear (pun intended) to watch another season of futility in the half court sets and down the stretch of the fourth quarter. GET a legitimate SHOOTER!!!! chuckw
@chuckw, poor wording on my part. I can't see them trading both Iggy & ET. I was just saying I'd do either of those deals. As for shooter I think they'll need to get several. One rookie shooter is not enough especially if Hawes and/or Lou Will and/or EB leaves. Look at Miami as great as Lebron and D-Wade are they still need shooters to space the floor. OKC has Harden, Fisher & Cook coming off the bench to go along with Durant & the streaky Westbrook. Instead of having a designated shooter they have several and just go with whoever has the hot hand. We're going to need a shooting big (Gasol or Illysova anyone?) a shooter at the 2 and a couple of shooters off the bench (combo g, sf). mtairy1
mtairy1: absolutely. The more shooters the better. I got a headache last season hearing the ball clang off the rim and backboard. game after game. Speaking of Westbrook, five assists and three foul shots last night with 32 shots, while the leading scorer in the NBA, Kevin Durant, gets 19 shots and Harden 10 shots (admittedly he was off) and nobody else with more than 7 shots. Westbrook is a dynamic talent, lightning quick, but last night the Heat had Lebron with 12 assists and 20 shots, Bosh 12 shots, Wade 19, and Chalmers with 15. Have to love that balanced scoring attack. Sorry, but I still have an old-school point guard's mentality (and I was a gunner myself but also loved to pass, which back in the day was a primary function of the point guard, who was also called upon to lead the break, not be a rebounder. Cole_World: I know, I know, that was then, this is now and the game has changed). chuckw
The Tonner is a prolific scorer and always goes hard to the hoop. hunglikeaton
Just reported New Orleans trades Okefor & Ariza to the Wizards for Rashard Lewis & 2nd round pick. Maybe they're keeping their #10 pick now mtairy1
Mtairy1: cross off Okafor and Ariza from your list; they were just traded to the Wizards for Rashard Lewis and the #46 pick. chuckw
Mtairyf1: scratch Okafor and Ariza off your trade list for the Sixers; they were just traded to the Wizards for Rashard Lewis and the number 46 pick. chuckw- All the rumors about the sixers drafting a power forward or small shooting forward is ridiculous. We need a presence in the middle defensively at best. If we can trade Iggy for an higher pick and Take Ross (a true scorer) and use the 15 pick for Melo...(I think he has a defensive presence and has a great upside offensively)...Instead of trying to make a power foward out of a center draft a true seven footer... Tayyib
Wow. The wizards. Not playing games. Maybe 54,15 and turner to Detroit for 9, Austin daye and tayshawn. combocancer1975
Do not draft either Terrence. At 7, 8, or 15 there will be a better option at all those slots. At 7 or 8 if Drummond is gone go PJ3...thank me later. At 15 draft who's left between Rivers, Lamb, Moutrie, Henson, and Sullinger. If they're all gone then u can go T.Jones. XmarksTheReturn
Ok so the first trade has gone down so what are the Siers waiting for. I live in ACC country and you can take Rivers or Henson at your risk. Lamb maybe but, after a great 2011, he practically disappeared last year without Kemba to draw all the attention. In a backcourt with Jrue being the focus might work. curtislow
We need a sniper that can drain 3's and a huge defensive presence with a mean streak. I don't really care how we get these 2 needs filled, but I don't see as much turnover on this roster as most do. Out of 12 guys who dressed this year I see 4 new players tops. Maybe just 3. And I agree, rookies will not start for Collins. Bobby V
Bobby V: agree that no more than 4 new faces are likely when the roster is set, although Turner or Iguodala will most likely be traded. I don't completely agree that a rookie cannot start for Collins, as I have noted before; depends on the rookie and the situation. As Bearsfriend always likes to say: trust is the key. chuckw
Chuck, I always enjoy your analysis. If Iggy or Turner get traded, out of 100% what % says iggy gets traded and what % for Turner? If one will definitely go, I would have it 68% Iggy 32% Turner. Bobby V
Bobby V: tough call on Turner or Iguodala, as I believe there are a number of factors involved. 1. Who has more trade value? Clearly Iguodala. 2. If DC is fully in charge, which player does he value more? Clearly Iguodala. 3. If Iguodala plays in the Olympics or is likely to play, what impact will that have on his readyness for the season? 4. What about Iguodala's knees? 5. Are they monitoring Turner's off-season regimen and, if so, will he do what they have asked in terms of losing weight and coming into camp in top condition and having worked on his game as well. 6. Can Iguodala or Turner, along with draft picks, get them the type of player they desperately need, either a consistent long-range threat or a tough big? My guess: Turner 65 percent, Iguodala 35 percent. But given your accurate prognostication last season for the playoffs, I am not confident going against your prediction. That is known as hedging my bet. chuckw
DC clearly would prefer Iggy to Turner right now. Long term, I have to believe the front office values Turner's growth potential, youth and lack of bad knees. Both are very good players. I can't wait for the draft now. By the way, my cousin is a Celtics fan and prior to the series told me C's in 6. I texted him back that although I really want my Sixers to win, I truly believe it will be Celtics in 7. :) Bobby V
Bobby V: I am not convinced the Sixers will be drafting at 15; they will either try to move up or, more likely, trade the pick with Iguodala or Turner for a proven scorer.
BTW: lose your cousin!! A Celtics fan? chuckw
@chuckw, I have to respectfully disagree & go with Bobby V & say 65% Iggy, 35% ET. First reason is what you stated; value. With the all-star selection, being hyped up by national media & the olympic selection Iggy's value is the highest it's ever been. To take a team to the next level you need difference makers, Iggy can get you one. I don't think ET can. Honestly, I'd prefer to have Iggy's stability over ET's upside but Iggy is the one who can garner an impact player. The 2nd reason I agree with Bobby V is I'm riding with a winner. After that Sixers in 6 prediction, how can you go against the guy (lol)? mtairy1
mtairy1: at least you respectfully disagreed. I did hedge my bet, of course. One thing we both agree on: either Iguodala or Turner needs to be moved and I would wager that DC would rather move Turner if there are GMs out there willing to give value for him when bundled with picks and/or another player like Thad Young or Vucevic (if they re-sign Hawes). You remember Vucevic? He has become a Soviet-style non-person. chuckw
Mtairy1: forgot that you are going to the game tonight, a nice, slightly warm evening. Be grateful you are getting Worley rather than Kendrick. The Phillies have won two straight; if they lose tonight while you are attending, you are banned from all boards for one week!! chuckw
In this heat I may not get out of Xfinity Live, AC, beverages, Phillies game and the beginning of the Heat/OKC. mtairy1
Iggy needs to be the one traded. Just to get him out of town and not the main guy on the team. They need to let one of the young guys become 'the guy', be it Jrue, Evan, Thad etc or Draft Pick. That gets stunted by Iggy still being here. blah- With the names mentioned, maybe the Sixers should just concentrate on adding better "guys" instead of hoping for "the guy" to appear...Cohesive pieces rather than "take over the game" play.
bearsfriend
Bear: today is the true test for a serious golfer. Are you doing 18 holes today? chuckw- Well, it sure was easy to get loose...it was hot (as I'm always in the fairway), so 9 holes was plenty...heard Jay Bilas talking NBA Draft in 97.5, and the hosts (who should be shot) were asking about Jared Sullinger falling to #15...It had me upping my offer on a property in New Hampshire...Bilas is smart, he preached about the kid's limitations, and how it will translate..And that's before the injury questions.

was the sixers page of philly.com taken over by Rod Thorn? No action whatsoever. how are the nachos at philly.com? phils_tnj1- I've got to think both writers had a few furlough days, where the fiscally shot industry tells them "you're off"...what's even worse is the Sixers' code of silence regarding workout schedules...Just want to know who's sitting in on this poker game...Picturing Rod in a Riverboat gambler's outfit is not doing it for me...Toronto is hosting all the guys the Sixers should have in at the end of the week (Henson,Zeller,Moultrie,Joneses)..Sixers are either trading 15 (and know it already) or like a guy they won't bring in so as to not have a team trade up and get (my theory to get Royce Whote)....If Terrence Ross is there, he's the man...if the Sixers stand pat with Iggy and expect to lose Lou.

We are the only NBA team without writers...being subjected to JM's 3 paragraph articles and Cooney's toe the line pieces are torture. No to mention we go days without articles...its pathetic. Yes, I'm angry. I miss Kate Fagan and Phil Jasner. This sucks. terpaholic
I'd just like to see what Thorn could do with this group - maybe trade John Mitchell for an upcoming stat boy learning how to write, a la David Murphy, and maybe a mid-level exception. Extend Cooney... phils_tnj1
Bear: here they come according to Mitchell; Moultrie, Henson, Zeller, Perry Jones, and Nicholson, with Mitchell predicting the Sixers will draft one of them with the 15th pick. chuckw
Hello from China! I will keep my prognostications simple. First, I think the Sixers will resign both Lou Williams and Spencer Hawes. They have a chance to add a good player at number 15 and the team was already pretty good last year so I suspect they will be pretty conservative, opting for the retention route in free agency. They might amnesty Elton Brand, but only if they are pretty sure they can resign him or someone like him for about 5 million per. As for the draft, they need to go for a Power Forward and thiere should be plenty of good ones available. I am a DraftExpress fan, and I would be thrilled if the Sixers can draft Perry Jones, as they predict. Jones has the length and hops that we lack in the front court. We are already a top defensive team and his presence would make us even better on that end of the floor. Other good choices would be Terrence Jones and Jared Sullinger. They both have great feel for the game and I am not concerned about a lower back disc problem compared to Sullingers' potential. In fact, if available, Sullinger would be my first choice as he could be the Sixers best player down the road. Perry Jones, second and Terrence Jones, third. should none of these guys be available, there are still (in order) Zeller, Moultrie and R. White. incog69
