Nothing is fixed. The Sixers got their share of strange calls. Steals that were called fouls, etc. The shoulder by Speights should have been a flagrant. The Heat are just a much better team.

Only losers and Flyers' fans whine about the officiating. Brand misses an open jumper from the free throw line, Young misses two key free throws, Iguodala, as usual, misses two late jumpers. Officials did not fix the game. Heavily favored home teams often play down to the opposition in the first game of the playoffs, as seen also with the Bulls-Pacers. Miami surprised the Sixers with a zone; Sixers cannot play against a zone because they lack shooters.

Jrue and Thad look like the foundation of this team. They make mistakes but they play fearless - like they believe that they belong on the court with the league's Elite. Thad's alleyoop layup was spectacular. I'll enjoy watching these guys grow up.

There is no way teams play down to their competition in the playoffs. If that was the case, we would see a lot of top seeds getting beat consistently. Teams with superstars get the superstar treatment by the NBA.

I had the good fortune of watching the game at a sports bar. Two HD TV's right next to each other - one showing the Flyers one showing the Sixers. For the first 10 minutes of the Flyers' game, they scored more than the sixers.

@chuckw: Speights missed a lay up in transition and then a put back at the rim too...

As for officiating, the Sixers are not the kind of team that goes to the line a lot. The Heat are, so I would expect the imbalance at the line to continue. The Sixers were definitely hacking LeBron. That said, the Sixers missed plenty of golden opportunities, as the title of the article suggests.
