ORLANDO -- Lloyd Pierce is the latest person rumored to receive consideration for the 76ers vacant coaching job. But it appears this rumor might not have a lot of legs to stand on.

The Sixers have a policy of not commenting on rumors. A league source close to Pierce said the Sixers have not requested permission to interview the Memphis Grizzlies assistant.

"Don't think so," the source said of there being any truth to the rumor. "Haven't heard anything about it on this end. Who put that out there?"

Peter Vescey, a longtime sports columnist, tweeted late Tuesday night that Hinkie is considering Pierce for the job. Vescey later tweeted Wenesday afternoon that Hinkie's interest in Pierce was "not a rumor. FACT."
