Sixers dismantle Lakers to advance

LAS VEGAS – The 76ers defeated the Lakers, 85-63, in Wednesday night’s NBA Summer League single-elimination tourney opener at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The 16th-seeded Sixers (2-2) advanced to face the top-seeded Bulls in Thursday’s 7 p.m. second-rounder at Thomas & Mack.

Sixers reserve guard Elijah Millsap finished with 19 points and a game-high seven steals.  He was 9-for-12 from the foul line.  Sean Kilpatrick, another reserve guard, also finished with finished with 19 points.

Sixers power forward Drew Gordon received three stitches above his left eye after being elbowed by Julius Randle in the second quarter. The 6-9, 245-pounder returned in the third quarter.

Teammate Brandon Davies suffered a small face laceration in the third quarter and returned.

K.J. McDaniels and Jordan McRae missed Wednesday's game with sprained ankles. Nerlens Noel sat out for precautionary reasons. He tweaked his ankle on Monday against the Cavs.
