Sixers agree to terms with Royal Ivey
Guard Royal Ivey has returned to the Sixers, coach Doug Collins told reporters today.
The 6-4 Ivey played in 71 games with the Sixers in 2008-09, averaging 3 points per game in 12.1 minutes as a reserve. Ivey appeared in 26 games the following season before he was traded to Milwaukee in the deal that brought Jodie Meeks.
He spent the last two seasons with Oklahoma City, playing in 25 games two years ago and 34 games last season. He also appeared in five playoff games as the Thunder reached the NBA Finals this past season.
In eight seasons out of the University of Texas, Ivey, 31, has averaged 3.4 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
Collins also announced that Kwame Brown passed his physical. The 30-year-old center will be joining his seventh NBA team since being selected with the No. 1 overall pick out of high school in 2001.
One would hope that there is a deeper more complex plan at play here.
Something to dissuade us from what appears to be a case of ...
Nickle and diming your way to mediocrity.

Didn't they get rid of Royal? Idaho76erfan
huh? WTF? how can this be? He is worst than Jodie Meeks??? cancerouscynic
Right now, the Lakers are on the verge of acquiring Dwight Howard. Why is it that the Lakers, Heat and Celtics continue to figure it out and the 76ers embrace mediocrity or worse? Did this off season really improve the team? The 76ers brought in Nick Young, Dorell Wright, Kwame Brown, Royal Ivey and two first round "project" picks. while losing Elton Brand and Lou Williams. Is this team really better? Teams that are agressive and creative win titles. Teams that lose mediocre players and replace them with other mediocre players remain, well, mediocre. The only way that the message gets through to management is by not renewing season tickets and not going to the games. Kwame Brown? Royal Ivey? Please.
syddan26- because the NBA is fixed or at least tilted heavily towards a handful of teams - Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Spurs and now OKC and Miami.
coloradoeagle - Royal Ivey is this generation's Kevin Ollie
- Good one.

Question 4 bearsfriend, is Ivey another Bartelstein client? If so, I see a theme building here. dudega- Ivey's agent is Jim Tanner, who's # is in Rod's phone, as he's dealt with the Sixers this past year representing both Thad Young and Tony Battie....while Ivey fits DC's puzzle as a three point shooting defensive presence on the perimeter, this is definitely a "been there, done that"...A good soldier, no hassle for DC with his 13th man, but for fans, this does not rival Cliff Lee as a guy "we have to get back"...I'd have preferred some upside to my deep backups...DC's safe. He likes insurance.

The NBA is the SUCK. When you are stuck in mediocrity, like the Sixers are, you are stuck there for eons. Just trade everyone, including Jrue, suck for three years, then become a contender in 5-6 years. Its quicker than the route they are taking now. SilliBilli
Rod Thorn just said, "we like Royal and his growth plates are still open so he could be an option at power forward down the road." jmb53
somewhere Collins is sitting back laughing his arse off at fans reaction. He hates us. Tripod691
Who's next, one of the Flintstones? Xavier19
While I understand not every acquisition has to be a "game changer", and that teams have to fit in terms of chemistry and leadership intangibles...but was a Wayns or Machado type ever considered?...Let's face it, the defensive lens' on DC are getting THICKER, and to be hionest...he's a "heightist"...Quick,little guards of the world..unite. bearsfriend
Welcome back Blue. I like the move. Good/willing ball defender. Can hit a 3. Used to the end of the bench. And a fight mentality. combocancer1975
