Source: Sixers Sign Former BYU Forward Brandon Davies
The Sixers seem to have an affinity for local products. After signing former Temple standout Khalif Wyatt a shot at a roster spot, Philadelphia has signed another local product, power forward Brandon Davies. The deal was first reported by Greg Wrubell of KSL Radio in Utah.
Davies, who grew up in Philadelphia, spent the past four seasons at Brigham Young University. Davies is well known for being suspended from BYU's team in 2012 for violating the team's honor code. He was reinstated this past year, and averaged 17.7 points per game, as well 8 rebounds, but went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft.
The 22-year-old was signed by the Los Angeles Clippers on September 5th, and after spending the preseason with the team, was waived earlier this week.
Davies acquisition now places the Sixers at the 15-man contract limit.
