Report: Philadelphia Sixers to interview Mike Malone, Jeff Hornacek for coaching vacancy

The Sixers will reportedly interview Warriors assistant Mike Malone and Jazz assistant Jeff Hornacek for the team's head coaching vacancy.

The Sixers will interview Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Malone and Utah Jazz assistant coach Jeff Hornacek for the team's head coaching vacancy, according to Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Malone, a Loyola University Maryland graduate, has 12 years of NBA coaching experience with four different teams: the Warriors (2011-13), the New Orleans Hornets (2010-11), the Cleveland Cavaliers (2004-09) and the New York Knicks (2001-04). Malone also has seven years of college coaching experience.

It's possible the Sixers will need to schedule around the Warriors' playoff run. Golden State is matched up against the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, leading 3-2.

Hornacek has been an assistant coach with the Jazz since February 2011. The Jazz missed the playoffs this season after finishing 43-39. He also played 14 seasons in the NBA with three teams: the Jazz (1993-2000), the Sixers (1992-94) and the Phoenix Suns (1986-92).

More from Wojnarowski:

"The Sixers are considering several candidates to replace Doug Collins, and are expected to start the interview process next week, sources said."

The Sixers have already been linked to Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw and Atlanta Hawks assistant coach Larry Drew in the search to replace Doug Collins, who resigned after three seasons with the team.
