ORLANDO -- The field for the NBA's 3-point shooting contest has been set, and the Sixers' Jodie Meeks is not among the participants.

James Jones, of the Miami Heat, will defend his title against All-Stars Joe Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks and Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Ryan Anderson of the hometown Orlando Magic, Anthony Morrow of the New Jersey Nets, and Mario Chalmers of the Heat.

The players will compete in the two-round competition with the top three finishers from the first round advancing to the finals. Five shooting stations will be set up around the three-point line, with four Official Spalding NBA game balls worth one point each and one “money ball” worth two points at each location. Each player will have one minute to shoot as many balls as he can. In the final round, players will shoot in ascending order of first-round scores.

Meeks has made 58-of-134 from beyond the arc for 43.3 percent. That is a better percentage than everyone in the field by Chalmers.

“I’d be glad to be in it if they picked me," Meeks said yesterday. "For sure, I wouldn’t think twice about it (as opposed to having a couple of days off). I would definitely be honored to come back here to Orlando to be in it.”

too bad he doesnt make as many 3s as those other guys. Its sad but true, for Jodie inconsistent is a compliment. he has had 3 good games this season. He must he hella good during practice to convince Collins to play him but during game time it just does not click. Even Lou hits more 3s than Jodie... he should be considered above Jodie no-three

You both are idiots that is all I can say and know absolutely nothing. He hits 43% of his 3's where Lou makes 39% of his. Lou has made 44 compared to Meeks 58%. Have you guys watched basketball before? Jodie Meeks is out there to spread the floor so our athletic guys have space to cut and drive to the basket. It isn't so much important that he makes them, but that he is out there and other teams have to be awake of a guy shooting 43% from down town. Learn something before you come on boards and start talking like idiots.

Joed5090, the first two posters must be reading challenged. The article clearly indicates that Meeks is shooting "threes" at a better percentage than everyone in the 3-point contest except Chalmers.

Percentages can be misleading; Meeks is inconsistent with the three and gets off far too few shots per game as teams can run him off the three. In 30 games as a starter, he has scored 10 or fewer points in 20 games, 66 percent, has made two or fewer threes in 20 games, 66 percent, and yet averages 26.2 minutes per game. Lou Williams, also with 26 minutes per game, coming off the bench, has scored 10 or fewer points in 5 of 30 games, 17 percent, has 2 or fewer threes in 22 games, 70 percent, BUT his primary role, unlike Meeks, is not to be a spot-up three point shooter, which is ALL Meeks is supposed to do and Williams has also hit 117 foul shots to 24 for Meeks. From the three, Meeks is 59/139 for 42.4, while Williams is 44/112 for 39.3. Williams could be a spot-up three point shooter like Meeks and command more respect, because he is a terrific scorer. Perhaps before you slam other posters for being idiots, you need to look in the mirror.

Their worth 3 points for a reason dummarse. Newsflash- NO ONE consistantly comes out and hits 50% every night. Go look at the best 3 point shooter of all time, Ray Allen's, stats. You'll find a bunch of 1-5, 1-6, and then a bunch of 6-8, 7-10. Not saying Jodie's at his level, but his game logs look very very similar from deep.
