Iverson Officially Bound For Turkey
Allen Iverson is officially bound for Turkey.
A media advisory Thursday night said the former 76ers star has agreed in principle to a two-year $4 million contract with Besiktas, a professional team in Turkey.
He is expected to sign his contract this weekend and begin his overseas career the week of Nov. 8.
Iverson is expected to be at a press conference Friday at 2 p.m. at the St. Regis Hotel in New York, where he is expected to be joined by Besiktas owner Yildirim Demiroren and Seref Yalcin, an executive board member of the club.
Iverson, a four-time scoring champion in the NBA, spent the first 10 seasons-plus of his career with the Sixers, then logged time with Denver, Detroit and Memphis before appearing in 25 games with the Sixers last season.

- Somehow his destination seems appropriate: TURKEY!
Best of luck to him. Four million for 2 short seasons is a better offer than he would have made in the U.S. plus it allows him to keep his Reebok endorsement. Shoot, if someone made a $100,000 annual salary, it would take them 40 years to make what he is going to make in 2. As a U.S. military member, Turkey was one of my favorite port visits. It was awesome. SixerDave03
Allen, please watch the movie Midnight Express before you move to Turkey. Joseph DeSantis

For 2 million a year, I would move to Turkey. Also, I think the wages he makes while he's out of the country after a certain time are not taxed in the US, so it's an even sweeter deal to up and move there for a while.
At first I got a chuckle out of it, but then I stopped and thought to myself, What place does someone making $40K a year (me) laughing at a guy making 4 million in 2?
