Daily News sports writers Bob Cooney and John Smallwood have targeted seven players who the 76ers could select in the first round of the NBA draft on Thursday. Here are their evaluations of each player and a Draft Meter rating from 1 to 10 on the chances that he will be selected (1 is least likely; 10 is most likely).

Elton Brand will be the "big" in the high-post this year. No way they amnesty him now. The F.A.s just aren't worth it. With Lavoy and EB, the Sixers can afford to draft a Center that won't be immediately ready.

Sorry, would stay away from Sullinger aka the next Sean May. There's a reason he'll be watching the draft from his dorm room in Columbus.

I want 2 picks in this deep draft. Ross and Terrence Jones. Rivers and Perry Jones. Waiters and Henson. I'll take any combination.

perry jones would be a good choice at 15. the sixers have showed with ET that they drafted for need then, getting a good player. however, with this pick if jones is taken, they should go after Arnette Moultrie. he has just what the Doctor ordered. size, fierce rebounder and an engine that never stops. get either ( Jones III, or Moultrie ) and look out NBA EAST. GO SIXERS

I forgot to include how we'd get the 2 picks. Trade Evan Turnover and/or Marshmellow Vucevic to any sucker that will have them...Hornets, Warriors, Kings, Blazers, Raptors. See how much a young over-dribbler and a young big marshmellow are worth on the open market.

Cole_World-agreed...but he'll be in a restaurant. By the time he gets selected, he might be 290 again.

Who the Sixers should take if available - 1. Arnett Moultrie, 6'-10" MSU, 2. Terrence Ross, 6'-7" Wash, 3. Terrence Jones, 6'-9" Kentucky, 4. Jared Sullinger, 6'-9" OSU. In the 2nd round, I would like to get Miles Plumlee, 7'-0" Duke, Kevin Jones, 6'8" WV, Jae Crowder, 6'-6" Marq or Quincy Acie, 6'8" Baylor. The Sixers should not forget about the defensive end of the court.

draft is only part of off-season roster moves. its ok to draft small shooter, as long as they get BIG thru trade and free-agency. they have all 3 options available. hope they don't get desperate and overpay for just decent player. better, better, better. keep train moving in right direction.

Trade Turner, Thad and a second round pick to the Hawks for Josh Smith before the Rockets get him!!!

Some of us wanted Josh Smith 4 years ago when MGMT got us Elton. Do any of us still want the 4-years-older Josh Smith who sulks and plays when he pleases?
