Cavs owner Dan Gilbert rips LeBron
Matt Mullin
Is LeBron James a coward for leaving Cleveland to join forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami?
If you ask Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert, the answer is yes. In an open letter posted on the home page of the Cavaliers' Web site, Gilbert ripped James. At one point, Gilbert said this was a "cowardly betrayal" that the fans didn't deserve.
In bold and a larger font than the rest of the letter, Gilbert made a rather unrealistic promise to Cleveland fans:
"I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA championship before the self-titled former 'king' wins one."
Here is a link to the full letter.

wow that was harsh. lacboi
What bulsh! Sour grapes by the owners club used to being the ones who get to send players here and there for their OWN purposes. Now a player gets to make the decision himself and it's a "betrayal." What hypocrisy. SemperAugust
Got to give Gilbert credit. It took some stones to write that one. Trident252
Ridiculous. Fantasy and video games don't count, Gilbert. Cavs will win NOTHING in the foreseeable future. xing
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Poor Gilbert isn't gone to make the money he was gone to make when he had James under contract. Boo-Hoo! I have a tear in my eye! neozon
Boy, if I am an NBA player I would love to play for an owner who is going to spread dirt on me like a 13 year old girl, after I leave his team for less money and better chance to win. Well done Gilbert, you are the one that makes Cleveland look bad, not Lebron. By the way, James is 25, your are what, 45? 50? What's your excuse for acting like a baby? EaglesBleedMoney
if he had gotten amare from pheonix during the season this wouldn't have happend. sasquatches
I guess Gilbert forgot that LeBron James was a free agent and could play for another team if he wanted to. Evidently Gilbert doesn't know that the 13th Amendment freed the slaves. Dolly92748
Gilbert is pretty much right. LeBron led the Cavs (and the entire city of Cleveland) on for weeks to boost LeBron's fragile ego. In the meantime, the Cavs made serious personnel changes. A real man (which does not include LeBron) would have simply told the Cavs he isn't going to stay there. chrissmith
LBJ.MADE HIS CHOICE.IF THE CAVS,MADE A REAL COMMITTMENT TO HIM,THEY COULD HAVE REDONE HIS CONTRACT,BEFORE FREE AGENCY CAME.YEAH,HE DONE WHAT OLD SCHOOL PLAYERS COULD NOT HAVE DONE,AND CALLED HIS SHOTS.HE LET HIS CAVS FANS DOWN? NO I DON'T THINK SO.U AL FELT IN THE BACK OF UR MIND,AND FEARED THE DAY WHEN HE WOULD LEAVE AND GO TO GREENER PASTURES..MIAMI..ITS HOTTER IN JANUARY THAN N.E OHIO,AND U CAN KICK BACK AND ENJOY THE WEATHER ,WHILE PLAYING BALL IN SOUTH FLORIDA.LBJ ,LEAVE SOME OF YOUR BOYS,HOME,PLEASE.........THE 305 BOYS ARE A LOT CRAZIER THAN THE 214.OTHERWISE WELCOME TH THE SUNSHINE STATE.........THE CAVS FANS SHOWED THEIR CLASS AND LOVE FOR A GUY, WHO HAS RESURECTED THE CAVS IN 7 YEARS,FROM DOORMATS TO PROMINCE,AND THIS HOW THEY TREAT ONE OF THEIR FAVORITE SONS,FOR LEAVING RHE NEST??SHAME ON U ALL CAVS,AND FANS. t_darb_56
