Kwame Brown's agent said Friday that the center has agreed to sign with the Sixers. Brown, who played for Sixers coach Doug Collins in Washington, would fill the Sixers' big-man void.

The agent, Mark Bartelstein, also told Yahoo Sports that the deal was for two years and $6 million.

Brown, 30, averaged 6.3 points and 6.3 rebounds  in 22.4 minutes last season for Golden State. He has averaged 6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in his 11-year NBA career.

He was drafted first overall by Washington in 2001. He has played for Washington, the Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis, Detroit, Charlotte and Golden State.

The Sixers announced the re-signing of center Spencer Hawes. The team did not disclose the terms of the contract. Hawes has played 118 games (110 starts) and averaged 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.01 blocks in 22.4 minutes. He shot 47.4 percent from the floor.

In other Sixers news, Xavier Silas was injured at the team's final summer league game in Orlando on Friday. The initial reports indicate that the team is concerned that injury could be a skull fracture. Silas has been sent to an Orlando hospital. The Sixers announced that Silas suffered a concussion and possible frontal bone skull fracture.

Also, Yahoo reported that Elton Brand has been picked up off amnesty waivers by the Dallas Mavericks. The Sixers used their amnesty clause on Brand last week.

Bearsfriend, thankfully, someone who gets it. I don't think the Sixers want to give away that lottery protected pick next year. But in two years, the Sixers will have a lot of flexibility.

The Tonner's going to start stocking up on Genny Cream Ale now for said parade. The Tonner had to resort to drinking gin when the Phillies won the World Series in 1980.

this is typical of the sixers to sign a lame a bust like brown instead of taking a chance on a draft pick like fab melo or some of the other big kids that were in the draft that we passed on to take two kids hurt lol give me a break!!!! If brown was anything of substance the wizzards lakers pistons and the entire host of other teams that had him would have never had let him walk.... point blank dave zink (rip) is turnin over in his grave!!!

I COULDN'T AGREE MORE - - The Sixers should have drafted Sullinger if they were going into this direction. I would have given Luis Scola a 4 year deal. That's what they gave Thad and he's not even a starter. Elton got 2.1 from the Mavs. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Kwame Brown will be boo'ed unmercifully next year. This team had no heart or toughness...great move. How did Thorn and Collins explain this one to Joshua Harris?

and btw...Spencer Hawes with a bad achilles is suppose to play the PF position now. Why save money for 2013? You only save money for the caliber of players that start on this year's Olympic team. Are any of them available? NO! DO you give a max deal to Jrue next year? Save it for Josh Smith? WHAT A JOKE!!! Chris Paul and Dwight Howard are not coming here this year, next year, or ever!

Before everyone starts killing this move, let me just say that obviously Kwame was not a #1 overall pick. But IF he stays healthy, he'll shoot 52-55%, pull down a decent amount of rebs/minute, play serviceable post defense, and most importantly, he's the only guy on our roster now that will hammer someone with a hard foul when we need it. Totally ok with this, even for 2 years

No, they amnestied Brand so they could sign Nick Young, trade for Dorell Wright and let Brand go to a team like Dallas that could use him off the bench. Signing Kwame Brown is just a part of filling out the roster. BTW, Lavoy Allen got a better deal than this.

Agree. Ridiculous. They need a power forward. Not another center. Collins contention is that Spencer Hawes can play power forward. Burn your season tickets now if Spencer Hawes is penciled in at the 4.
