This morning, the 76ers waived shooting guard Dionte Christmas and forward Brandon Bowman.

Bowman's dismissal was expected, but Christmas, the former Temple star, looked to -- possibly -- have a shot at making the team. Here was Christmas' line during the pre-season: 4 games played (of 7 possible). 7.5 minutes a game, 12.5 percent shooting from the field, 33.3 percent from three, 66.7 percent from the line, 1.8 points a game.

Just left Sixers practice at PCOM. Sixers GM Ed Stefanski spoke about the decision to cut Christmas. He said Christmas might be someone they look at down the line, but that right now they'd prefer to go with 13 and have a possible spot available for someone more able to immediately contribute.

The Sixers roster now stands at 13 players, all of whom have guaranteed contracts for this season.

That's a shame the Sixers got rid of the local kid.... speaking of local kids.... Is Malik Rose's run in the NBA over? Did anyone pick him up? Anyone need a rebounder off the bench?

Willie Green has gauranteed money left on his contract. The Sixers have possibly 2 of the worse regular rotation players in the NBA, Willie G. and Dalembust, both have garuanteed contracts. THANKS ALOT BILLIE KING!!! Your legacy still lives here in Sixerville.

Christmas not making the team is a shame, I would have liked to gone to a few games this year to see him play.

Who cares? You guys are in a minority that keeps getting smaller. No one really cares about the NBA anymore. College basketball is 100 times better...where there's a longer shot clock, which makes it almost an entirely different game.

I just want to know if they are going to play with 13? As for green and dalembert, yeah I would like to see the money come off the books, but I have no real beef with dalembert. He d's other big guys fairly well and if the other 4 guys can score 76ers can absorb his lack of O. I like the fact that he can run the floor unlike most other big men. I just want to see consistency from dalembert's play. Green would not be bad coming off the bench 10-15 min a game.

it's not why are we keeping lou and willie - why are we keeping rodney carney? christmas is a better shooter, maybe not as agile - but we already have guys who can run...
