The biggest news surrounding Thursday's NBA draft has probably already been made, when the 76ers and Boston Celtics consummated their swap of first-round picks and other intangibles that left the Sixers with the No. 1 selection, with which they'll most likely grab Markelle Fultz.

But, as usual, rumors swirl this time of year. The latest one involves the New York Knicks and young forward Kristaps Porzingis, the 7-3 stretch four whom many would have loved for the Sixers to have taken with the third pick two years ago, but that's another story. This one is about the seeming availability of Porzingis, thought to be the one untouchable piece for the Knicks as they try to free themselves from the muck in which they are mired. Multiple reports say that team president Phil Jackson has said the sharpshooter might be available and is listening to offers from teams around the league. The Knicks own the eighth overall pick, not an enticing place to be when you're looking to overhaul, and word is that they have looked at Arizona big man Lauri Markkanen, perhaps as the heir apparent to Porzingis.

Porzingis skipped his exit meeting with the team at the end of the season, leaving many to speculate about his future. It would be hard to imagine the Knicks not keeping him, but you never know, especially with Jackson running the show.

The two biggest names bandied about of late have been Chicago's Jimmy Butler and Indiana's Paul George. Butler has two guaranteed years remaining on his contract, and, with the Bulls going nowhere real quick, now is probably a good time to move him. There have been reports of him possibly going to Cleveland; others have him being shipped to Boston.  George, who has one year left on his contract before a player option year, reportedly said he doesn't want to stay in Indiana, so it would behoove the Pacers to move him while they still can get something in return. Los Angeles could be a landing spot for the Southern California native, as new Lakers president Magic Johnson tries to lead the storied franchise back to prominence.

The Celtics certainly don't appear to be done wheeling and dealing, as there are talks they could be interested in giving Sacramento the No. 3 pick they received from the Sixers to the Kings for the fifth and 10th selections. That wouldn't seem to be prudent for Sacramento, as the Kings need everything. Taking two players in the top 10 would seem a better move than grabbing one at three.

Should Boston stay at three, it most likely would look to add Kansas forward Josh Jackson, if he's still available, or perhaps Duke forward Jayson Tatum.

And what of the Sixers? President Bryan Colangelo tweaked some ears on Monday when he said "there are many variables with what we might be able to do with these picks."

"You could potentially package them and move up to have a later first-round pick," he said. "There's a lot of interest in our picks. We are managing and negotiating that process now; we have been over the last several weeks. A few suitors have made themselves very present, and they call every day and wonder what we are going to do with our picks."

As always, stay tuned. Should be an interesting couple of days leading up to the draft.
