Derrick Rose had 23 points and seven assists in his first postseason game in three years and the host Chicago Bulls topped the Milwauke Bucks, 103-91, in Game 1 of their series Saturday.

Rose was at his fearless best, driving hard to the rim in the early going, and mixed in three three-pointers in the second half.

It was quite a night for a superstar point guard making his first playoff appearance since he tore a knee ligament in the 2012 playoff opener against the 76ers.

Jimmy Butler added 25 points for the Bulls.

Former Sixer Michael Carter-Williams had nine points on 4-of-13 shooting.

Warriors 106, Pelicans 99 - Stephen Curry scored 34 points with an MVP-worthy performance, and Golden State went up big before holding off New Orleans in their playoff opener in Oakland, Calif.

Klay Thompson added 21 points and Draymond Green and Andrew Bogut dominated down low as the Warriors looked every bit like the NBA's top seed - at least for three quarters. The Warriors led by 15 after the first quarter, 18 at the half, and 25 late in the third.

The Pelicans pulled within four in the final minute behind Anthony Davis, who scored 20 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter, to make the contest seem closer than it was.

Rockets 118, Mavericks 108 - James Harden scored 24 points to lead seven Houston players in double figures in a Game 1 home victory over Dallas.

Terrence Jones had 19 for the Rockets. Dallas was led by Dirk Nowitzki's 24 points.

Wizards 93, Raptors 86 - Paul Pierce scored five of his 20 points in overtime, Nene had 12 points and 13 rebounds, and visiting Washington beat Toronto in Game 1.

Amir Johnson scored 18 points, DeMar DeRozan 15, and Kyle Lowry, a Cardinal Dougherty High School graduate, was limited to seven points and four assists before fouling out for the Raptors.
