Sixers Notes: Drew quickly finds role with Sixers

Larry Drew II called his time with the 76ers a great learning experience. If so, he hasn't had much of a learning curve. Before Wednesday, the point guard had recorded 16 assists in his first three games after signing a 10-day contract Friday. Drew is one of 17 NBA players to record at least 16 assists in his first three games, dating to 2001.

"I feel like my game is predicated on my teammates," Drew said. "I rely heavily on my teammates to be successful. . . . I feel like the more that I play with these guys, the better it's going to be for all of us."

The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder recorded nine assists Sautrday in a 107-89 road loss to the Detroit Pistons. He was averaging 4.3 points and 5.3 assists heading into the game Wednesday against the New York Knicks at the Wells Fargo Center.

"The coaching staff has been great," said Drew, who was called up from the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League. "They have been doing a great job of getting me on track, getting me on the same page. And they have a lot of confidence in my abilities. I couldn't ask to be in a better position then what I'm in at this point."
