Coach Brett Brown was very excited at the 76ers newest acquisition – Bensalem senior Kevin Grow.

The Sixers signed Grow to a ceremonial two day contract before Monday evening's practice at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Grow, who has Down Syndrome, has been Bensalem's basketball manager for four seasons. He got to play in two late-season games and made the most of his opportunity when he scored 14 points against Neshaminy, hitting four three-pointers.

His accomplishment put Grow in the national spotlight and gained undivided attention of the Sixers.

Before signing his contract, the first question Sixers coach Brown asked was whether he could play defense and Grow assured him he could.

"I know you can shoot but you can play defense, too, I say we give him a three-day contract," Brown said.

Added Grow: "It's great to be here," he said.

During Tuesday's home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Grow and the Bensalem basketball team will take the court for a special presentation.

Brown echoed the feelings of many when addressing Grow before he signed his contract.

"Everybody is very proud of what you have done and what you have accomplished is sensational," Brown said. "You should be proud of yourself."

During a timeout in Tuesday's game, Grow and the Bensalem High School basketball team will take the court for a special presentation.
