Sixers set to talk again with coaching candidates

The 76ers will bring in several candidates for their coaching job for a second round of interviews this week, according to several websites.

Yahoo Sports reported Monday that Sixers managing partners Josh Harris and David Blitzer would join other team officials for the interviews in New York.

The list of candidates has several NBA assistants, including Atlanta's Kenny Atkinson, San Antonio's Brett Brown, Chicago's Adrian Griffin, Boston's Jay Larranaga, and Portland's David Vanterpool. Sixers assistant Michael Curry, who served on former coach Doug Collins' staff last season, is also under consideration.

Attempts to reach the Sixers for comment were unsuccessful. They are the only NBA team without a head coach.

Of the candidates reportedly meeting with the Sixers, only Curry has experience as an NBA head coach, with the Detroit Pistons in 2008-09. Curry coached the Sixers to a 1-4 record in the Orlando Summer League in July.

Larranaga, 38, coached the Celtics in the summer league as well. He was widely considered a candidate to succeed Doc Rivers before Boston hired Brad Stevens.

Collins resigned as the Sixers coach on April 18 after three seasons. The team made the playoffs in Collins' first two years and had a 110-120 record in his tenure.
