ORLANDO - The 76ers will interview assistant coach Michael Curry for their vacant head coaching position after the Orlando Summer League schedule ends, according to sources close to the team.

There have been media reports that Memphis Grizzlies assistant Lloyd Pierce also will receive consideration.

The Sixers have a policy of refusing to comment on rumors. Dismissing the reports, a league source close to Pierce said that the team has not requested permission to interview him.

"Haven't heard anything about it on this end," the source said. "Who put that out there?"

Pierce primarily has handled player development as a workout coach. His stint with Memphis is his third as an NBA assistant. He was an assistant coach with Golden State for the 2010-11 season. Before that, he served for three seasons as the Cleveland Cavaliers' player-development coordinator.

Curry spent the last three seasons as Sixers associate head coach under Doug Collins, who resigned in April. Curry, who is under contract for another year, has been running the team's summer-league squad.

He was head coach of the Detroit Pistons in 2008-09, posting a 39-43 record. Curry was fired after a first-round playoff exit.
