The Denver Nuggets have talked with former 76ers general manager Tony DiLeo about their GM job, Comcast SportsNet Northwest reported late Wednesday night.

Nuggets president Josh Kroenke views DiLeo as a serious candidate, according to the report.

DiLeo, who was named Sixers GM in September, was let go when the team hired Sam Hinkie as president of basketball operations and general manager last month. DiLeo had spent 23 years with the Sixers.

The Nuggets' previous GM, Masai Ujiri, left on June 1 to take over the Toronto Raptors' basketball operations.

DiLeo's lone season as Sixers GM was a disappointment. The team finished with a 34-48 record one season after making an Eastern Conference semifinal appearance. The Sixers had to live with the August trade for center Andrew Bynum, who missed the entire season with chronically injured knees.

DiLeo, 57, was involved in the team's drafting of Jrue Holiday, Thaddeus Young and Evan Turner, along with former Sixers Allen Iverson and Andre Iguodala.

DiLeo replaced Maurice Cheeks as Sixers coach during the 2008-09 season after the club's 9-14 start. He guided them to a 32-27 finish.
