Not a word on Sixers' coaching situation

But Jrue Holiday was asked to attend Team USA minicamp

DON'T BE surprised if in about 9 months there is a baby boom in the 76ers organization, because it appears they are in a blackout.

Nary a word on the coaching search has been unearthed. The team is bringing in potential draft picks - with Temple's Khalif Wyatt scheduled for Saturday - but they are not alerting the media as to who is coming in and not making players or evaluators available for interviews.

Names continued to get thrown around for head coaching positions throughout the league, most notably Brian Shaw and Byron Scott and recently retired Jason Kidd. But none of the "hot" names are being attached to the Sixers' opening. Does new president and general manager Sam Hinkie have a plan in place that he is secure with or is he still in the search process? Will he go through the draft, which takes place on June 27, without a coach to help call the shots? Will the ensuing Summer League in Orlando, just a few weeks after the draft, not include a head coach?

These are all questions that don't have hints of answers yet, but there was some definitive news to come out yesterday. Point guard Jrue Holiday, on his 23rd birthday, was invited by USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo to be one of 27 players to attend the USA Basketball Men's National team minicamp, set for July 22-25 in Las Vegas.

"The group of players we have assembled for the minicamp are extremely talented and very versatile," Colangelo said. "This is an important opportunity for each one of them because we will be evaluating which players will continue to be involved in future USA National Team training camps and teams."

Holiday made his first All-Star appearance this past season and averaged 17.7 points, 8 assists and 4.2 rebounds. He was the only player to average at least 17 points and 8 rebounds in the league last season.
