Spencer Hawes says 76ers will 'keep playing hard'

LOS ANGELES - Considering their remaining schedule, it would be easy for the 76ers to do what many of their fans already have done this season: give up.

LOS ANGELES - Considering their remaining schedule, it would be easy for the 76ers to do what many of their fans already have done this season: give up.

"We're going to keep playing hard, because that's what we get paid to do," Sixers center Spencer Hawes said. "And right now we're playing good basketball. The ball is moving, we're playing with high energy, and we're having fun no matter what the circumstances might be."

They are not great. The Sixers (26-40) are not mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, but they are eight games behind Milwaukee for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot. And they will play 12 of their final 16 games on the road.

On Wednesday night, the Sixers will visit the Los Angeles Clippers, who lead the Pacific Division. When the Clippers played their lone game in Philadelphia last month, they led by as many as 32 points on the way to a 107-90 victory.

The Sixers have been playing better. Their 101-100 victory over Portland on Monday marked their third win in the last four games.

After Wednesday's game against the Clippers, the Sixers will play the next night at Denver, which beat Oklahoma City on Tuesday night for its 13th straight win. Then they will be off until Sunday, when they play the first of back-to-back games at Sacramento and Utah.

"Hopefully, we can take some of this momentum and keep it going," Sixers forward Thaddeus Young said.
