Bucks, Scott Skiles part ways

SCOTT SKILES is out as Milwaukee Bucks head coach and the team says assistant Jim Boylan will take over for the rest of the season.

On Tuesday, Bucks general manager John Hammond said Skiles' exit was a mutual decision.

The 48-year-old Skiles had a 162-182 record in five seasons with Milwaukee, with one playoff appearance. He is 443-433 as an NBA head coach over 12-plus seasons.

The 57-year-old Boylan has been the lead assistant coach for the Bucks the past four seasons. The Bucks are 17-16 after defeating the visiting Phoenix Suns, 108-99.

Brandon Jennings led the Bucks with 29 points and nine assists.

The decision to make a coaching change came Monday night, 2 days after the Bucks lost their fourth straight game.

If the move sounds familiar, it should: Skiles was fired as head coach in Chicago on Christmas Eve in 2007 after the Bulls started 9-16. Boylan, an assistant in Chicago, took over and went 24-32. He was fired at the end of the season.
