76ers' Stefanski said to be looking for new job

Ed Stefanski, the 76ers' general manager, is a front-runner for the Toronto Raptors' vacant general manager's position, Yahoo Sports reported late Thursday night.

Yahoo lists the other two candidates as former New Orleans Hornets GM Jeff Bower and San Antonio Spurs executive Dennis Lindsey.

Stefanski, who is still under contract with the Sixers, has been given clearance to interview for other NBA front-office positions. This is perhaps the first sign that the team's new ownership group intends to make at least one or two changes within the front office.

On Wednesday, Comcast-Spectacor sold the Sixers to an investment group led by New York billionaire Joshua Harris, in a deal pending approval from the NBA's board of governors. Included in the investment group is former Sacramento Kings assistant general manager Jason Levien.

Levien will join a Sixers franchise that features president Rod Thorn, who is the team's decision maker, and Stefanski, who, based on Thursday's news, appears to be preparing for his exit.
