Sixers Notes: Iguodala has not requested trade from 76ers, source says

Andre Iguodala has not requested a trade. On Wednesday, ESPN reported that Iguodala had asked the 76ers to trade him. According to a source with knowledge of Iguodala's thinking, the team's starting small forward has not approached management with any trade request, whether immediate or by this season's February trade deadline. The same source said the information was taken out of context when Iguodala made a statement about "wanting to play for a winning team."

The logical next step from that statement would be assuming, if the Sixers did not begin winning, that Iguodala would want out of Philadelphia.

He has made no such formal request.

Early Friday morning, Iguodala responded to a fan on his Twitter page, saying: "I ain't goin nowhere young'n!"

AI seals deal

Former Sixers guard Allen Iverson signed a two-year, $4 million deal Friday to play with the Turkish club Besiktas. Asked whether he was sad to hear about the move overseas, coach Doug Collins said he hoped that Iverson would play well enough in Turkey to return to the NBA.

"I've always been a huge fan of his," Collins said. "The guy, when he played basketball, played with his heart and soul. And he played in a city that admired that kind of athlete. Being a former 76er and now coaching, I've always admired him so much. Let's hope that maybe his going over there will show that he's still healthy enough to play, got something in the tank, and maybe it'll open up another opportunity for him here."

Iverson spent 10 of his 14 NBA seasons with the Sixers. He was traded 15 games into the 2006-07 season. Since then, he has played for the Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies, and last season he returned to the Sixers and played 25 games.

Iguodala extends streak

Despite a sprained right wrist, Iguodala made his 247th consecutive start in Wednesday's season opener against Miami.

Only Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher (293 starts) has a longer active streak of starts.

On the road

After playing their first two games of the regular season at home, the Sixers head to Indiana on Saturday and to Washington on Tuesday. Seven of their next nine games will be on the road.
