Newly named NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans has been selected for the USA Basketball national team.

Evans, a 6-6 guard from Chester, averaged 37.2 minutes, 20.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 72 games this season for the Sacramento Kings.

Three other players were added to the 2010-12 roster yesterday: Detroit's Tayshaun Prince, Oklahoma City's Jeff Green and Golden State's Stephen Curry. There now are 31 players on the national team roster. The national team competes in world championships and will play in the 2012 Olympics in London.

"We're excited about the addition of these four outstanding players," USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said. " . . . In adding Tyreke and Stephen we've brought into the national team fold two of the game's most exciting and promising newcomers."

Evans has international experience. He was a member of the USA Junior Select Team that defeated a World Select Team in the 2008 Nike Hoop Summit. He also participated in the 2007 USA Basketball Youth Development Festival, averaging 29.8 points. *
