76ers Notes

MILWAUKEE - Former 76ers guard Royal Ivey, now playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, said yesterday he was "kind of happy" when he was traded last month.

On Feb. 18, the NBA's trading deadline, the Sixers sent Ivey and center Primoz Brezec to Milwaukee for guard Jodie Meeks and center Francisco Elson.

"I think it's a great situation for me," Ivey said before last night's game against the Sixers. "When I got traded, I was kind of happy; I didn't really get a chance to play in Philly. That's kind of how the league is sometimes. It's a new start here; I'm glad to be here."

Ivey has appeared in 10 games with Milwaukee, averaging 1.3 points in 5.1 minutes per game. Ivey played in 36 games for the Sixers, spending a good chunk of time on the team's inactive list.

A jab at Jordan

Former Washington Wizards center Brendan Haywood, now playing for the Dallas Mavericks, told reporters after Monday's practice that he didn't agree with the practice style of Eddie Jordan, who coached Haywood in Washington and now coaches the Sixers.

"In Washington, [Jordan] made it known it was an open competition," Haywood told ESPNDallas.com. Jordan "felt like that competition fueled the team. It was actually terrible for the team. This [situation in Dallas] is more along the lines of, whoever is playing the best, put him in the game and let's try to get something done."

Streaking

Entering last night's contest, Milwaukee had won a league-best 19 games since Feb. 1. The Sixers held a record of 8-16 in that same time.

Sitting out

The Sixers were without forward Thaddeus Young (thumb) and guard Lou Williams (lower back). Neither player traveled with the team to Milwaukee. Jordan started a lineup of rookie Jrue Holiday, Andre Iguodala, Jason Kapono, Elton Brand, and Samuel Dalembert.

Nice pickup

Before the NBA trading deadline, the Bucks acquired shooting guard John Salmons from the Chicago Bulls. In 17 games with Milwaukee, the former Plymouth Whitemarsh and Sixers player was averaging 20.5 points.

Playing through

Iguodala admitted earlier this week he is battling plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Before last night's game, Jordan said he did not believe it would affect Iguodala's game, particularly his defense.

"He seems to be more sore in the morning and during the course of the day, but when he's playing, there's some soreness there, but not like it's going to affect him," Jordan said.
