NBA: Grizzlies put Stackhouse on waivers
Thursday's blockbuster deal involved the Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic.
Stackhouse, 34, was due more than $7 million with the Mavericks next season, but his contract could be bought out for $2 million - likely the amount of cash Memphis received in the trade.
Hill stays with Suns. Grant Hill, a seven-time all-star, decided to remain in Phoenix rather than join a title contender in Boston or a rebuilding team in New York.
Lon Babby, Hill's agent, said during a conference call that the deal is for two years, the second at Hill's option, and he will be paid $3 million in the first year. He could have earned more next season in New York, where Babby said the Knicks offered the full midlevel exception, about $5.8 million, for one year or $10 million for three.
Also, first-round draft pick Earl Clark, a 6-foot-9 forward out of Louisville, signed with Phoenix for undisclosed terms. Under the NBA rookie salary scale, he could make about $1.47 million in his first year as the 14th overall pick.
Ellington, Flynn sign. Minnesota signed first-round picks Wayne Ellington, the former Episcopal Academy star, and Jonny Flynn.
Under the NBA rookie scale, Flynn will earn at least $2.47 million next season as the No. 6 overall pick out of Syracuse and Ellington at least $836,000 as the No. 28 choice out of North Carolina. Teams can give players up to an extra 20 percent on top of the slotted salaries.
The status of the Timberwolves' No. 5 pick, Ricky Rubio, is still uncertain as he assesses his deal with his Spanish team.
Bass, Orlando have agreement. Dallas forward Brandon Bass agreed to sign with Orlando, according to a knowledgeable source who was granted anonymity.
NBA.com, which first reported the signing, said it was a four-year deal for about $18 million, with an escape clause after three years.
Dallas had hoped to re-sign Bass but ran out of money and playing time with the acquisition of Shawn Marion.
Kings sign Israeli. Sacramento signed Israeli forward Omri Casspi, its second first-round pick last month.
Casspi, 21, was the 23d overall pick by the Kings, who signed fourth overall pick Tyreke Evans of Chester earlier in the week.
Casspi was the first player from Israel to be drafted in the NBA's first round.
Okur gets extension. Utah and center Mehmet Okur agreed on a two-year contract extension that runs through 2012. Financial terms were not released.
Injuries. Portland draft pick Patty Mills, chosen 55th overall, broke his right foot during Thursday's practice and won't play in the NBA's Summer League. . . . Phoenix forward Amare Stoudemire underwent outpatient surgery on his right eye as part of the recovery process from a Feb. 20 operation to repair a partially detached retina.
