Sixers will talk with Andre Miller's agent

Former Sixers guard Andre Miller has signed a three-year contract with the Portland Trailblazers.

With the NBA's free-agent period beginning today, 76ers president and general manger Ed Stefanski plans to talk with Andre Miller's agent.

If Stefanski cannot work out a deal with agent Andy Miller to keep the point guard with the Sixers, a sign-and-trade deal is a possibility.

The Portland Trail Blazers are believed to be interested in Miller, and they have a point guard in Steve Blake who spent his first two seasons in the NBA playing with the Washington Wizards under Eddie Jordan, now the Sixers' coach.

Stefanski would say yesterday only that the Sixers "can't pursue anything until tomorrow."

The Wizards picked Blake in the second round of the 2003 NBA draft. He joined Portland in 2005 as a restricted free agent and spent time with Milwaukee and Denver before returning to the Blazers.

A six-year pro, the 6-foot-3 Blake started 69 games for the Trail Blazers last season and averaged 11.0 points and 5.0 assists per game.
