Sixers center Jason Smith to have knee surgery today

Daily News Staff Report

Sixers center Jason Smith will undergo surgery on his left knee today.

Smith suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament on Aug. 6. No timetable has been set for Smith's return.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Team physician Jack McPhilemy is scheduled to observe the surgery. *
