Iguodala and the Sixers reached an agreement in principle last week for six seasons and $80 million, including an additional $5 million in incentive clauses and an opt-out clause after the fifth season, sources said.
Before last season, Iguodala walked away from a contract-extension offer that would have paid him $57.4 million over five seasons, and went through last season with a $2.8 million salary.
A restricted free agent, he could have played the upcoming season on a 1-year qualifying offer valued at $3.8 million and then been an unrestricted free agent after the season.
Re-signing Iguodala is the latest step in what has been a busy summer for Sixers president/general manager Ed Stefanski, who earlier signed unrestricted free agent Elton Brand for 5 years and $79.8 million, re-signed restricted free agent Lou Williams for 5 years and what is believed to be $26 million, drafted Florida forward Marreese Speights and signed free-agent backup guards Royal Ivey and Kareem Rush.
Iguodala averaged 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season, playing in all 82 regular-season games. *
