76ers Notes
CHICAGO - Even
Andre Miller had some doubt about his ability to play for the 76ers last night because of a back injury, but the thought quickly left his mind.
The veteran point guard was in the starting lineup to face the Chicago Bulls at the United Center after aggravating his back in Wednesday's 83-82 win at Detroit.
Miller left the Detroit game for good with 6 minutes, 26 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. After nearly two days of treatment, he was ready to go.
Asked last night if he wondered whether he would be able to play in his 432d consecutive game, Miller paused.
"For a second," he said. "The way I was feeling, I could have easily sat down and let it rest."
That proved to be a fleeting thought.
"This is an important time," he said. "Knock these two games out and then I can get some rest until Wednesday."
After playing the Bulls last night and returning home to face San Antonio tonight, the Sixers will be idle until Wednesday, when they host
Allen Iverson and the Denver Nuggets.
Miller also suffered an abdominal strain while compensating for his sore back, but he said that felt better.
Treatment by a chiropractor helped immensely, he said.
"It feels way better with the treatment and rest, and I kind of relaxed a couple of days," Miller said. "I am sure it will stiffen up, and it's a mental thing."
Green update
Coach
Maurice Cheeks is confident that guard
Willie Green, who has missed this two-game trip with a back injury, can play tonight against the Spurs.
"He's been running and doing all those things," Cheeks said. "He is hoping to play."
Playing through pain
Forward
Reggie Evans said he continued to experience pain in his right shoulder, which he injured Nov. 28. He said rest was not an option.
"I feel it especially when it gets banged," said Evans, who has missed only one game, and that was because of a finger injury. "I've never felt banged up like this, but you just forget about it and get the job done."
